As a follow up to CERN's Press Conference occuring on July 4, 2012 at 8:55 am CEST, TRIUMF will be hosting an open house on July 4, 2012 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in our Auditorium. Scientists and students from the local ATLAS Canada group (including TRIUMF, UBC, SFU, and UVic) will be available to answer any of your questions, and explain anything you need to know about the Higgs or Particle Physics. We'll have interactive displays to show what Higgs events look like, we'll have copies of the materials from the midnight press conference, and we'll have a running live connection to CERN that shows the new data streaming in from the experiments. This event is designed for the general public, for students, and for interested scientific colleagues. Stop by for a cup of coffee and to chat about the origins of mass in the universe!
TRIUMF and ATLAS Canada would like to acknowledge the support of the Government of Canada (via NSERC, CFI, CANARIE, NRC, and other programs) for the research program and infrastructures as well as the set of participating institutions from across the country; the Government of British Columbia has also contributed support for some of the comuting systems.
