Canada’s particle accelerator centre
e.g., ‘TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator centre.’
Established in 1968 in Vancouver, TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator centre. The lab is a hub for discovery and innovation inspired by a half-century of ingenuity in answering some of nature’s most challenging questions. From the hunt for the smallest particles in our universe and the origin of the elements that make up our world to carrying out work that advances quantum computers or helps cure cancer, TRIUMF is pushing frontiers in research and training the next generation of leaders in science, medicine, and industry.
Our brand identity is an expression of TRIUMF and its values, of who we are and what we believe in. Here’s a basic tool kit you need to implement it.

TRIUMF is the proud home of the world’s largest normally-conducting cyclotron. The cyclotron has remained an important part of our identity and our community for over 50 years.
In its current iteration, which is the result of a major rebrand in 2018, the TRIUMF logo showcases the six distinctive sector magnets that guide the particles within the cyclotron and as they build to 75% the speed of light. This compact, dynamic, and memorable symbol honours our mighty cyclotron as an icon while reflecting on the continuous evolution of the laboratory’s science program, community, and wider contributions to society.
We pair this enduring symbol with Helvetica Neue as our typeface – a bold but ultimately accessible signature imbued with lucidity, accessibility, and directness. We fortify these themes with the selection of our leading brand colour, pure cyan, alluding to the original cyanotype (‘blueprint’) concept and serving as a timeless and energetic connection to science and innovation.
