Dr. Hitoshi Murayama at Science World

On Friday, July 12, Dr. Hitoshi Murayama will be discussing the mysteries of the universe in a free public talk at Science World. The joint event with TRIUMF is part of the Unveiling the Universe Lecture Series, which features the top researchers from the field discussing different areas of current physics research. Dr. Murayama will be discussing the enduring mysteries at the frontiers of science in the context of current and forthcoming experiments. During his talk, he will outline what we know and (mostly) don’t know about anti-matter, neutrinos, and (the still-elusive) dark matter, and will explain how these enigmas fit into our understanding of the universe. The lecture will be followed by an audience Q&A session.

Dr. Murayama is the Director of the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU) at the University of Tokyo. A theoretical physicist specializing in neutrinos, dark matter and supersymmetry, Dr. Murayama received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from University of Tokyo in 1991, and was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley and a researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He is an entertaining and much sought-after speaker with a passion for explaining the wonders of modern physics to public audiences.
