There is growing evidence that, despite its successes, the standard model--our current best accounting of fundamental particle physics--is not a complete description of Nature. Evidence from astrophysics and cosmology tell us about the existence of dark matter and a matter-antimatter asymmetry that we can’t explain in the SM. Neutrino masses as well as the mass of the Higgs boson itself also show us that the SM is likely inadequate. My research is about determining how these problems are overcome, building models to explain the data as well as identifying novel ways to test them. Many of the scenarios I study involve light, weakly coupled particles that could be discovered in a variety of lower energy experiments.
