To: Roman Ruegg PSRC Chair
Date: Jan. 4, 2002
From: Curtis Ballard PSRC Secretary
Minutes of the P&S AGM held on December 12, 2001
Executive present were: R. Ruegg, A. Trudel, G. Jones, J. Yandon, C. Ballard, B. Evans, K. Reiniger, J. Drozdoff. P&S staff members: 12
The meeting was opened and the minutes of last year’s annual general meeting were accepted.
The first topic of discussion related to the meeting with the new director and the PSRC Executive. In the meeting, Alan Shotter stressed the importance of TRIUMF to meet its goals and that technology transfer was important for funding. He also said that his door was always open and communication has been good so far. Alan also asked that the Executive prepare a written set of concerns and suggestions for him to address and the possibility of a meeting for the P&S staff in the new year.
The letter to the Director was then shown on the overheard projector for all present to read. The letter was also posted on the P&S website. Alan has read the letter, but has yet to comment. The key points in the letter were: to simplify PPR’s, generalize workplans, keep the grid system, reorganizing service groups and to better define job functions and job horizons.
The PSRC was also asked to review the new policies brought forth by Human Resources and give feedback. Key points of discussion included vision care up to $400 from $200. Short-term sick leave will change due to new provincial funding rules (which benefits most people). Some policy questions were sent to HR for clarification and will be addressed at a later date, specifically, the “Drug and Alcohol Policy” relating to the extent of the supervisors’ role in initiating discipline.
An amendment to the PSRC constitution was proposed that would allow PSRC executives to be elected outside of the AGM as had been done prior to the revised P&S Constitution.
The motion: “Nominations for PSRC elections will be accepted until the close of the AGM. The PSRC Executive will distribute ballots to all P&S members, make available a ballot box, and tally the votes for the candidates within two (2) weeks of the AGM.”
The motion passed unanimously.
The election of officers was held and the results will be posted on the web page.
