TRIUMF PSRC Meeting
January 4, 2007 11:00 – 12:00
Attending: Stu Austen (Chair), Curtis Ballard, John Drozdoff, Mike Mouat, Klaus Reiniger, Roman Ruegg (Ex-officio).

The meeting began with Mike Mouat and John Drozdoff accepting their e-mail nominations (Stu Austen nominated, Klaus Reiniger seconded) for Vice-Chair and Secretary respectively (vote unanimous). The topic then quickly turned to the impending re-organization of TRIUMF and the implications for P&S group members. It seems that a new organization chart has been prepared but there was no plan or process for communicating it to supervisors or staff that will be affected. This issue is apparently going to be addressed by Division Heads although it is not clear how. A significant unknown is whether supervisors will be informed of changes individually or as a group and whether they will have any opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions.
Re-organizations can be powerful vehicles for positive change but some PSRC members wondered if a consultant should be brought in to manage the process. The new organizational chart will be held back in the meantime.
Stu Austen hoped that the current Committee Members-At-Large would establish a rapport with the membership and encourage them to participate in P&S group activities in whatever way possible. The PSRC should be quite active this year and Stu Austen cited matters such as retiree benefits and employee recognition programs as areas where the Committee should become involved.
The maintenance of the PSRC web site arose and John Drozdoff agreed to ask Phil Jones if he would continue to post meeting minutes. He also agreed to distribute meeting minutes to all Committee members in advance of posting.
Stu Austen proposed that the PSRC meet the first Thursday of each month and said he would reserve the Conference Room for that purpose. Meetings could always be cancelled if there were no matters to discuss. The Committee agreed and, after some discussion, decided that a good meeting start time would be 13:00.
