Report on Health Coverage for Retirees
The PSRC would like to obtain an update from Josie Farrell regarding the retirees switching from Sun Life extended health coverage to Manulife health coverage.
Report on Budgets
The PSRC discussed the financial situation of NRC in particular that there are no cuts for 2012. However, NRC will have cuts in 2013, but these cuts should not affect TRIUMF’s program, but, the PSRC would like an update from Nigel Lockyer, if he has any information. The PSRC would like to discuss pay increases with Nigel Lockyer, it is believed that there has been put aside 1% for pay increases and 1% for merit for 2012. Stu Austen will ask Nigel Lockyer to confirm this. The PSRC suggests that Nigel communicate to the lab regarding the status of pay increases.
Report on Retirements
The PSRC discussed the topic of upcoming retirements. There are a number of high profile retirements this year (Jean-Michel Poutissou, Tom Ruth, and Gordon Ball). The PSRC would like to speak to Nigel Lockyer in regards to retirement gifts. A number of people on the committee would like management to re-instate gifts for retirements in a consistent fashion. It was suggested that there should be a policy and procedure for retirements and maybe this should initiated by HR.
AOB
The PSRC discussed requesting an updated list of the P&S Group and communicating that the PSRC exists either via email or via the HR Newsletter.
The PSRC also discussed the topic of the Sick Leave Policy that was being rushed to be approved by management last year so the Board of Management could approve it at their next meeting. It was thought that the Board of Management meeting was postponed and therefore the PSRC believed that the updated policy has not been approved yet. The PSRC would like to follow-up with HR or management on this topic.
