FAQ
What counts as a valid submission?
Submissions must feature research that was either A) conducted at TRIUMF, OR B) conducted by TRIUMF researchers. Submissions can come from any period in TRIUMF's history, and from both theoretical and experimental work.
Who is evaluating submissions?
A selection committee that spans the science and eras of TRIUMF will be drawn to review submissions and assemble a list that is representative of TRIUMF's science.
Who was this survey sent to?
This survey was sent to the TRIUMF internal community, TARA, the TRIUMF Users Group, the experimental program mailing list, and the theory mailing list.
How is this different from a bibliometric analysis?
Rather than counting the number of references and citations, this survey is inviting the community to select what they believe are key papers of significance that represent the world-class science from the past 50 years of TRIUMF.
This allows for significant papers that have been published fairly recently to still be considered, despite not having as much time to accrue citations and references as older papers.
The added context of 'why the paper is significant' provides additional information that would not be available through a bibliometric analysis.
What are you doing with the data after Science Week?
The results of this survey will be given to the selection committee for their review and final compilation. This finalized list will be shared with the community during Science Week 2018.
The raw data from the survey will not be shared with anyone outside of the selection committee and the Science Week Organizing Committee. This survey can be submitted anonymously – we will not ask for your personal information.
