Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to advise you of an important decision that was made by the TRIUMF Board of Management on Friday, December 4, 2020.
As was previously communicated, over the month of November, the Director’s Search Committee began the vetting process to develop the initial list of candidates. The search consultants have now followed up directly with the leading candidates and have coordinated interviews that are taking place over the month of December.
However, this means that it will not be possible for the TRIUMF Board to appoint our next Director of TRIUMF until early in 2021. To address this issue, the Board has nominated Dr. Digvir Jayas, Chair of the TRIUMF Board of Management and Vice-President, Research and International, University of Manitoba, as Interim Director of TRIUMF.
Dr. Jayas has accepted this interim appointment and will work with the TRIUMF Leadership Team to guide the laboratory through this period of transition. Dr. Jayas has the confidence and trust in TRIUMF Leadership to operate the laboratory effectively and efficiently in pursuit of its objectives during this transition period. Further to this, Dr. Jayas will communicate regularly with the laboratory, including meeting with a subset of the Team on a weekly basis.
