TRIUMF is pleased to welcome Sanjeev Dewett as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective June 12th, 2023.
As TRIUMF’s new CAO, Sanjeev will lead the ongoing modernization of TRIUMF’s Core Services division to ensure that TRIUMF systems and processes continue to support the needs of the cutting-edge research performed at the lab, with an eye to ensuring operational excellence across our programs. He will also oversee TRIUMF’s compliance with the CNSC and other regulatory bodies.
Sanjeev brings over twenty years of experience in the public sector serving federal, provincial, and local governments, including executive roles responsible for Corporate Services, Intergovernmental & Stakeholder Relations, Compliance, and Chief of Staff to a Deputy Minister. He also has proven experience developing and delivering initiatives for Indigenous peoples, and for portfolios related to economic development and innovation.
Born and raised in Vancouver, he recently moved back to British Columbia after 28 years in Toronto to be closer to family. We caught up with Sanj to ask him a few questions about joining the lab:
Why TRIUMF? What interested you about the lab?
I am excited to join TRIUMF and contribute to the vision of investing in science and technology to yield innovations and advancements for Canadians and the world. I spent many years designing and developing granting programs to support investments in science, technology, and innovation. Now, I get a chance to be on the other side and work with the great minds that actually create the magic.
What are you most looking forward to about taking this role at TRIUMF?
Coming on as the CAO with TRIUMF at this time provides a challenging opportunity to work with the entire organization to build and implement the systems and processes needed to continue TRIUMF's success. Also, I get a rare opportunity to identify and achieve the next additions to TRIUMF's legacy by informing the next 5-Year Plan and 20-year Vision as part of the team.
What’s a fun fact about yourself that you’d like to share with the TRIUMF community?
I have performed stand-up comedy (only once) and I grew in East Van on Commercial Drive in the heart of Little Italy!

I believe in working hard and enjoying meals and laughs with my colleagues. Also, if you see me walking around with a lost look, it's probably because I am lost. So please don't be shy, say hi, and point me in the right direction.
