World Year of Physics 2005 - Local Events Calendar
Working as a patent clerk in Bern, Switzerland, Albert Einstein wrote legendary articles in the single year of 1905 articles which revolutionized and provided the basis for three fundamental fields in physics: the theory of relativity, the theory of quantum physics and the theory of Brownian motion (statistical mechanics). In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Einstein's "Miracle year", the United Nations has proclaimed 2005 to be the International (World) Year of Physics. Local, national, and international events throughout the year aim to raise public awareness of Einstein's achievements in particular and the physical sciences in general.
