The hotels were chosen with the premise of easy public transportation to UBC. The Plaza 500 is close to an express bus-stop to UBC. Travel time is 25 minutes. There's a number of restaurants in close vicinity of the Plaza and a 5-10 minute busride gets you downtown. The other two hotels are in the downtown core and travel to UBC takes some 10 minutes longer. These hotels are obviously closer to some of Vancouver's attractions, but a number of bars and pubs are located along Broadway (e.g. google) en route to all hotels.
