On Sunday, September 20, 2009, the parking lot at TRIUMF will provide the starting point for Stories along the Trail, a unique storytelling event along the walking trails of Pacific Spirit Regional Park. The event runs from 1:00 - 4:00pm and is presented by community-based volunteer organization, Pacific Spirit Park Society (PSPS), in partnership with Metro Vancouver and SelfDesign Learning Community.
Throughout the year, PSPS hosts a number of small and large-scale events designed to promote stewardship activities, protect the natural environment of the park, and maintain recreational use that is in harmony with nature. Stories along the Trail is a community event that provides a unique opportunity to explore the trails, learn more about the park, and meet other outdoor enthusiasts from the UBC community. Along the trails, costumed storytellers representing "Spirits of the Forest" will appear and present captivating mini-stories that weave together the fabric of history and nature in the park. The walk will take just over an hour, with guided trips through the trails departing from the parking lot at TRIUMF every 10 to 15 minutes (the last trip leaves at 3:15). Aside from the storytelling, there will be a number of interactive nature displays at the assembly area.
TRIUMF employees and their families are invited and encouraged to attend this event to explore the beautiful park in which the TRIUMF laboratory is so uniquely situated. To learn more about Stories along the Trail, click here.
Note: TRIUMF employees working on Sunday should expect more vehicle and pedestrian traffic than usual and should to take extra caution while driving through the parking lot.
