The laboratory’s annual peer recognition awards celebrated new community members, behind-the-scenes contributors, and teamwork.
On Friday, January 31st, during its annual Mid-Winter Celebration, TRIUMF presented the results of the 2019 Above & Beyond Awards. Now in its second year, this peer recognition initiative celebrates the passion that all members of the TRIUMF community bring to the lab and the wide-reaching impact of their contributions to science and discovery. This year’s awards recognized the individuals and teams across our community who accomplish exceptional things, including those who support others in making that work possible.
The award recipients were nominated by members of the community and their peers. With nearly one hundred individuals and teams nominated in the 8 award categories, the TRIUMF community went beyond the boundaries of their own teams to show appreciation for the exemplary efforts taking place across TRIUMF.
“I was honoured to be a part of this awards ceremony, which gave us all the chance to personally thank and congratulate the many outstanding members of our community for everything they do,” said Dr. Jonathan Bagger, TRIUMF Director. “We have so many great people doing great things for our community, and these awards are a wonderful way to applaud their efforts. Our people are what make us at TRIUMF proud.”
“It is an honour to be acknowledged by my co-workers even though I am just a small piece of the TRIUMF family. I’m grateful to work with such an amazing group of people who are so incredibly supportive and kind to me,” said Kathleen Genge, a recipient of the All For One, One For All Award.
Qing Miao, who received the About Dang Time Award, saw her achievement as a shared success for her group: “This award was a team effort. We have a great team because everyone is hardworking, focused, and dedicated. Thank you all for coming together and making it possible.”
Our warm congratulations to all winners of the second annual A&B Awards!
