Awards & Honours Barry Davids selected as 2024 APS Outstanding Referee 19 April 2024 The American Physical Society (APS) has selected Barry Davids, TRIUMF Research Scientist and Deputy Department Head, Nuclear Physics, as an Outstanding Referee for 2024. Davids is the fourth TRIUMF employee to be recognized with this distinction.
Funding Announcements Unprecedented $399.8M federal investment in TRIUMF advances Canadian science and innovation 16 April 2024 The Canadian government is sending a strong signal of support for Canadian science with an unprecedented $399.8M in funding for TRIUMF, Canada’s particle accelerator centre, as announced in today’s federal Budget 2024.
Awards & Honours Doug Bryman awarded 2024 CAP-TRIUMF Vogt Medal 15 April 2024 This year’s CAP-TRIUMF Vogt Medal has been awarded to Professor Doug Bryman. Professor Bryman holds the J. B. Warren Chair and is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia and is an Affiliate Scientist at TRIUMF.
Workshops & Conferences Save the Date: EMISXX 2025 09 April 2024 Please save the date: the 20th International Conference on Electromagnetic Isotope Separators and Related Topics (EMISXX 2025) will take place from October 19 - 24, 2025 at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler, Canada. The conference will be hosted by TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre.  
Funding Announcements CFI funds new infrared free electron laser facility at UWaterloo and terahertz light source at TRIUMF 04 April 2024 The Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has announced a major funding allotment for an infrared free electron laser (IR-FEL) facility, based at the University of Waterloo, and a TRIUMF-based developmental site for a new terahertz (THz) light source for high-field physics. Together, the unique infrastructure will position Canada to be globally competitive in the realm of FEL research and fortify national capabilities in fields ranging from materials science and chemical analysis to nano-engineering and high-field physics. 
Funding Announcements NSERC awards funding to TRIUMF & General Fusion to develop state-of-the-art diagnostic system for LM26 fusion machine 27 March 2024 TRIUMF and General Fusion, an international leader in the development of commercial fusion energy, have received a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Alliance grant to advance technology critical to measuring extreme temperatures inside a fusion machine.
Current Events 50th anniversary of beam: World’s Most Colourful Cyclotron poster now available 06 March 2024 This year marks 50 years of beam and continued impact the lab’s main science driver, our 520 MeV cyclotron, has had on global science and discovery.  To spotlight this remarkable milestone, the Communications team has developed an illustrated artwork that showcases the hero of this epic - The World’s Most Colourful Cyclotron. Print copies are available across the TRIUMF site, and digital downloads are available here.
New Hires Introducing TRIUMF’s new Radiation Safety Officer 29 February 2024 TRIUMF would like to introduce our lab’s new Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), Roxana Ralea. Roxana draws on experience and skills gained in over 15 years of dedicated service in radiation safety and management of radioactive materials, including many years at TRIUMF. 
Auto Screen Lock Deployment 27 February 2024 To improve TRIUMF’s cybersecurity posture and in line with our Acceptable Use Policy, we deployed automatic screen lock functionality for all TRIUMF managed Windows devices at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
