The TR24 cyclotron, one of the world’s most technologically advanced commercial cyclotrons, took flight briefly on Friday, April 8, up and over the IAMI site fence and then down to its permanent home on the B2 level of the Institute.
Just after 3:00 AMPT this morning, twin beams of protons once again began circulating the 27-kilometre ring of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN,bringing to an end a three-year period of maintenance and upgrades for the collider’s next phase of data-taking.
After 11 years of dedicated service to TRIUMF, Dr. Reiner Kruecken, Deputy Director, Research, will be moving on from TRIUMF to join Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as Division Director, Nuclear Physics Division
Dr. Nigel Lockyer, who served as TRIUMF’s Director from 2007 to 2013, has been awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or OBE, for his services to science and UK/US relations.
