The Laser Ion Source & Polarizer Group (laser applications group) is part of the Accelerator Division's - Ion Sources & Targets R&D department. It operates laser ion-sources, laser manipulation of atoms and delivers radioactive-ion-beams (RIB). The group leads laser related R&D with the aim to improve radioactive ion beam (RIB) delivery to the ISAC nuclear- and particle-physics programs. The development of solid state laser based tuneable lasers is also part of this R&D. The motto is: higher intensity, higher purity, higher reliability.
